It will be one year tomorrow since we heard the sad news that Colin has passed away.
Stephany Steggall, a great friend of Colin and Rhonda, and the author of Colin's biography "Can I call you Colin?" (more details lower down the page), and her husband Bob,
spent some time to visit Colin's resting spot.
Here is Stephany's message
As the first anniversary of Colin's death approaches on Tuesday, I thought you might like a couple of pictures to add to your website. These were taken at the Dayboro Cemetery today, as Bob & I visited the place where Colin's ashes are buried under a tree. It is a very peaceful place on a country road,
with many tall trees around. The first picture is the plaque; the second is a view of the tree under which Colin's ashes are buried and where the plaque has been placed.
(both photos are thumbnails - click on them for a larger view (back button to return here)
Thanks Stephany and Bob for sharing this with us.
We still receive emails through the web site to pass on to Rhonnie and family,
Thanks to all those who do write (or spend the time to view our web site).

Proof Colin lives on in his Books.
March 2007, Colin's final book is released.

The back cover says:
THE FIERY SALAMANDER has hot scales and breathes flames on anyone who comes near him. He walks around on hot coals and the other animals don't like him one bit. They need to find a way to stop him, but he is so much bigger!
Sometimes it's the little ones who have the best ideas...
There is a funny little story on this books creation.
Colin had previously told his publisher that he had written his last book.
After another stay in hospital, he phoned his publisher back and sheepishly told them that he had written another book.
Apparently he got a bit board in hospital.
So "The Fiery Salamander" was created.

Have you read the other book that Mark illustrated for Colin?
Mr Dumby's Duck?
To quote Mark
They were two wonderful stories from a great writer. To be asked to illustrate them both was an absolute honour for me.
Many thanks to Laila Dickson, Children's Sales Manager
Macmillan Children's Books, England,
Who first told us about the release last year.

Monday 4th Sept. 2006, Colin Thiele died in hospital after a short stay due to breathing difficulties (and a failing heart).
He was 85 years old.
He leaves behind his loving wife Rhonnie and two daughters and their families.
Thank You, to all those generous people who have sent their condolences and thought to Rhonnie and her Family.
There were many lovely stories and associations of how Colin had influenced peoples lives in the emails sent so far. As the Webmaster, I would have to say that I have been most proud to be able to help pass these messages on.
If you have not yet done so, but would like to write something to Colin's family, I will be happy to continue sending them on.
A new book of Colin's will be released next year (details coming soon).

Eudunda Story Telling Festival
Colin Thiele generously signs books for the Eudunda Storytelling Festival as prizes. Stephany Steggall has also donated a copy of her book "Can I call you Colin?" which is signed by both herself and Colin.
Due to Colin's passing we have now dedicated the Storytelling Festival to Colin.
We are happy to report that the whole event was a great success, we are sure Colin was looking over us to make it so.
