Pushbike at 12
Colin was given the bike for his 12th
birthday.
If you refer to the book on between Page 288 and 289 you
will see a great photo of Colin sitting on his bike. Colin
was given the bike for his 12th birthday.
He rode into Eudunda on Monday mornings or Sunday evenings
to go to school (1933-34). Colin stayed with his Uncles at
Barwell Street and rode home again to the farm at Julia on
Friday afternoons.
Eudunda has a great audio interview where Colin talks about
this happening and his experience with the "carbide light"
he used for riding from the Hampden railway station to home
in the dark. He also speaks about how one day he had a big
crash on his bike at the oval and his memories of the
Eudunda Show. We played this tape at Colin Thiele's birthday
celebrations held simultaneously at the Eudunda Show in
2002. |
